A major security transformation programme is underway within a complex, large-scale hybrid cloud environment. We are building a specialist security rebuild team and are seeking both a Security Engineer and a Security Analyst to play critical roles in stabilisation, hardening, and long-term resilience.

This is not a BAU support engagement. The environment is in active recovery and security uplift, requiring strong technical depth, analytical thinking, and the confidence to challenge assumptions. There is potential for additional hires as the team expands.

This is a Hybrid Azure tenancy with a complex infrastructure (cloud, virtualisation, SaaS, and multi-OS estate).

Contract Details

  • 12-18 months (likely extension)
  • Hybrid working (2-3 days/week on-site)
  • Day rate: £500 - £600 (Inside IR35)

Security Engineer (Contract)

Architecture, Hardening & Security Assurance

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and challenge infrastructure / platform designs from a security perspective
  • Identify vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and control gaps
  • Drive hardening across Azure, networks, and hybrid workloads
  • Strengthen segmentation, firewall policy, identity security, and logging
  • Support incident-driven remediation and resilience improvements

Required Experience

  • Strong hands-on infrastructure / platform engineering background
  • Azure & hybrid cloud security expertise
  • Network security & segmentation (firewalls, SD-WAN)
  • Experience with enterprise security controls & remediation
  • Ability to perform deep technical analysis
  • Clear stakeholder communication

Security Analyst (Contract)

Focus: Detection, Response & Optimisation

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Microsoft Defender analysis & optimisation
  • Write, tune, and troubleshoot KQL queries
  • Investigate alerts and support incident response workflows
  • Liaise with SOC & technical teams
  • Analyse ITSM backlog / ticket trends
  • Recommend improvements to Conditional Access & ASR policies

Required Experience

  • Strong Microsoft Defender expertise
  • Advanced KQL capability (hands-on)
  • SOC / incident investigation background
  • Analytical mindset with operational focus
  • Strong communication & user engagement skills
