Senior Python Software Engineer

Up to £75,000 | Hybrid | Equity

Method Resourcing are working with one of the UK's fastest-growing technology businesses, who are scaling their engineering function following significant investment, multiple acquisitions and continued international expansion.

Over the last 12-18 months they've grown rapidly across Europe, expanding both their engineering capability and product offering. All whilst supporting millions of critical events every single day for customers operating in sectors where reliability isn't optional.

Their technology underpins life safety, security, critical infrastructure and IoT solutions, where reliability isn't just important, it is critical.

The Opportunity

They're undertaking a major engineering transformation, decoupling a monolithic platform into modern, scalable services on Azure.

You'll be joining a dedicated Signalling Engineering team responsible for designing and building the systems that power the heart of the business.

You'll help build highly resilient APIs and backend services capable of processing millions of signalling events every day, whilst modernising legacy architecture into loosely coupled, cloud-native services that are easier to scale, maintain and evolve.

This isn't a role where you'll spend months fixing bugs in a legacy codebase. You'll be helping shape the next generation of the platform while solving the kind of scaling and reliability challenges that don't exist in smaller engineering teams.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building scalable backend services using Python
  • Designing robust, secure APIs powering critical customer-facing systems
  • Breaking down and modernising legacy applications into distributed services
  • Working on systems processing millions of events every day with high availability requirements
  • Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code following engineering best practice
  • Participating in architecture discussions and technical design
  • Mentoring engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
  • Driving quality through testing, CI/CD and continuous improvement
  • Collaborating with Product, Delivery and Architecture teams to deliver new features

What They're Looking For

They're looking for an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys ownership and solving complex engineering challenges.

You'll likely have experience with:

  • Python
  • REST API development
  • Distributed systems or microservices
  • SQL databases
  • Cloud platforms (ideally Azure)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Test-driven development and automated testing
  • Building scalable production systems

Experience modernising legacy applications or working within event-driven architectures would be particularly valuable.

Why Join?

This isn't a business standing still.

In recent years they've completed multiple acquisitions, expanded internationally across the UK and Europe, and continue investing heavily in both their products and engineering teams. Today they support customers across Fire, Security, Telecare, Critical National Infrastructure, Utilities and Retail, delivering technology where uptime and resilience are critical.

You'll be joining a collaborative engineering culture where senior engineers are trusted to make technical decisions, influence architecture and genuinely shape the future of the platform rather than simply delivering tickets.

If you're looking for a role where you'll work on meaningful technical problems at scale, whilst helping modernise a large production platform, I'd love to tell you more.

What's in it for you?

  • Equity options
  • Hybrid working
  • 25 days holiday (as well as bank holidays)
  • Private pension
  • Dedicated learning & development budget
  • Modern engineering culture with genuine technical ownership
  • Cycle to Work & Green Car schemes
  • Subsidised gym membership
  • Employee rewards platform
  • Annual volunteering day
  • Life assurance
  • Regular team socials and company events
